Dolphin’s 3U MXP921 PXIe / CompactPCI Express Switch card is a building block for lower performance PXIe systems. The system module enables PXIe PCIe 3.0 chassis to connect to servers using a single PCIe 4.0 x4 link.

MXP921 Product Data
The MXP921 PXIe PCIe cable module is designed to create a lower cost PXIe fabric solution at PCIe 4.0 x4 wire speed.
A single PXIe chassis can connected using the MXP921 with the MXH915 host card.

PCI Express 4.0 / 3.0
The MXP921 is designed for PCIe 3.0 link speeds in the backplane and PCIe 4.0 x4 via the front panel PCIe cable port. It will auto negotiate to the highest speed supported by each component connected to individual port. This allows you to mix various generation of equipment without scarifying performance between high speed components.
PCIe Cable port
The MXP921 switch has a single SFF-8644 PCIe 4.0 x4 cable connector to allow connectivity to external servers and IO devices. The SFF-8644 connector has a protected 3.3V supply to support a single PCIe 4.0 AOC. The MXP921 supports up to 5 meters copper cables. Fiber optics extends this distance to 100 meters. Backplane support
The MXP921 follows the PXISA PXIE-1 rev 2.3 and PXISA PCIE-5 Hardware specification 1.1. The default backplane configuration is PCIe 3.0 x16 + x8. PCIe 3.0 x4 + x4 + x4 + x4 can be selected using the DIP switch.
Software support
The eXpressWare software distribution adds a PXI System Library integration (PXI Software Specification Revision 2.5) which allows software like Keysight IO Suite to discover and enumerate a number of PXI chassis and the 3rd party expansion boards.
Support for the MXP921 was introduced with eXpressWare 5.26. The software for the MXP921 must be installed on a host also having the MXH15 / MXH932 card installed. Please select and install the Board Management Package option with the installer to install the PXI System Library.
