Dolphin Introduces New Dolphin Express 4.0 Software with Industry Leading Features and Performance

Oslo, Norway - Dolphin Interconnect Solutions, a global provider of ultra low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnect solutions today introduced the latest version of its commercial and embedded software suite. Dolphin’s software suite was introduced to the market in 2000 and has been used for years in critical applications. The suite is designed to enable quick deployment of local high speed private networks or clusters; low latency shared memory systems, and high speed I/O subsystems. The new Dolphin Express software adds support for Dolphin’s IX Gen2 product line, improved functionality, and new levels of performance. The suite includes Dolphin’s SuperSockets^tm API, an optimized TCP/IP driver, and Dolphin’s SISCI embedded software API, which enables customers to quickly move applications from Ethernet or proprietary, interconnects to standard PCI Express cabled solutions for higher performance and lower cost. The overall Dolphin Express hardware and software solution delivers 40Gbps performance with application latency of 2.4 microseconds for industry leading application performance.

The Dolphin Express Software suite is targeted at performance critical distributed computing and I/O solutions. The suite includes advanced tools to improve performance of new and existing applications and reduce time to market. The optimized TCP/IP driver and SuperSockets™ API for Linux and Windows removes the traditional networking bottleneck and enables standard applications to take advantage of the high performance PCI Express interconnect. The latest revision of SuperSockets™ achieves sockets performance of 2.4µs from system to system with more than 23Gbps of throughput. The SISCI embedded software API provides tools for direct memory applications and replicated shared memory. Embedded customers can expect real application performance, such as latencies as low as 0.81µs latency with throughput of over 3.0 Gigabytes per second.

The new Dolphin Express software version 4.0 supports our IX product line based on IDT’s Logan and Northstar chipsets. The addition of IDT support to the Dolphin suite enables IDT customers to take advantage of benefits of Dolphin Express software. IDT customers can use Dolphin’s IX products to evaluate performance and other advanced features with PCI Express.

Availability

The version 4.0 release, which includes support for the IX product line, is currently available for most popular Linux distributions. The Windows version is scheduled for customer release early August 2011.
