Dolphin Interconnect introduces Dolphin Express IX product line to accelerate deployment of 40 Gbps Systems

New Dolphin PCI Express Gen 2 Solutions dramatically reduce development time and cost

OSLO, Norway, February 1, 2011 – Dolphin Interconnect Solutions AS (OSLO:DOLP), a global provider of ultra low-latency, high-bandwidth interconnect solutions today announced its IX Line of  PCI Express Generation 2 Products. The IX Product Line includes standard form factor boards and switches, along with Dolphin’s commercial and embedded software suites. The combination of robust software suites and low cost standardized hardware will enable system designers seeking 40Gbps performance to quickly deploy IX based products.   The initial IX products include an IXH610 Host Adapter, Dolphin’s SuperSocketstm, IX TCP/IP driver, and Dolphin’s SISCI embedded software API.  IX customers can quickly move applications from Ethernet or proprietary interconnects to standard PCI Express cabled solutions for higher performance and lower cost.

The first IX product released is the IXH610 Host Adapter. This low profile host adapter provides up to 40Gbps of throughput. Built from IDT’s PCI Express Gen 2 system interconnect switch, the IXH610 supports both transparent and non –transparent bridging functions to enable both processor to processor and I/O connections. The IXH610 supports additional features such as spread spectrum clocking for customers seeking clock isolation for jitter sensitive systems. Customers implementing the IXH610 can expect lower latency and higher throughput compared to Ethernet based systems.

“IX products are designed to take advantage of the low cost, and high performance of standard PCI Express silicon,” said Hugo Kohmann, COO at Dolphin Interconnect Solution. “We chose IDT’s PCI Express products and ported our field proven SuperSocketstm and SISCI software to support current and future PCI Express Generations. Applications that have traditionally used Ethernet as their interconnect solution can now improve performance with Sockets and TCP/IP software for PCI Express.”

Dolphin offers several software suites to support the IX product line. For commercial and embedded sockets based applications, Dolphin’s SuperSocketstm software transparently achieves networking latency as low as 2 microseconds and significant throughput gains by utilizing the high performance low latency capabilities of IX hardware. The SISCI Developers kit (Software Infrastructure Shared-Memory Cluster Interconnect) consists of driver and API software, tools, documentation, and source code needed to develop embedded applications utilizing the low latency and high performance of Gen2 PCI Express. Dolphin’s TCP/IP solution enables standard IP applications to operate over PCI Express significantly faster than Ethernet. The combination of these products reduces development time, by providing stable platforms for application and system development.

“PCI Express is the interconnect of choice for high performance computing applications,” said Mario Montana, vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Computing Division at IDT.  “IDT PCI Express switches are designed with the performance and features necessary for these bandwidth-intensive systems and we’re pleased to have been selected by Dolphin for the IX family of products, which lead the way in integrating standard PCI Express solutions with software for demanding computing applications.”

Dolphin is currently accepting pre-production orders for the IXH610. Volume production deliveries begin in Q1 2011. Pricing for volume IXH610 product starts at $675.00. Contact Dolphin at sales@dolphinics.com for more information.
