Dolphin Selected by Agilent Technologies for Fastest Real-Time Oscilloscope

Dolphin Express chosen for Infiniium 90000 X-Series Oscilloscope

OSLO, Norway and SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 27, 2010 --  Dolphin Interconnect Solutions ASA (OSE: DOLP) and Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) announced Dolphin ExpressTM as the high-speed interconnect for the new Agilent Infiniium 90000 X-Series oscilloscope, the world’s fastest real-time oscilloscope. The choice of Dolphin ExpressTM greatly increased data transfer from the Infiniium 90000, which is capable of supporting 32 GHz of true analog hardware performance.

”Agilent is excited to work with Dolphin on our latest oscilloscope," said Brigham Asay, product manager for high-performance oscilloscopes at Agilent. "Our customers need to quickly capture, transfer and analyze data from our scope to ensure compliance with emerging high-speed standards. The Dolphin ExpressTM low latency interconnect allows our system to transfer data four to five times faster than with 10 Gigabit Ethernet. Along with Dolphin’s SuperSocketsTM,our customers benefit by achieving increased application performance."

Dolphin ExpressTM is a combined hardware and software solution designed for customers seeking improved real-time performance. The Agilent solution includes the DXH510 host adapter, which connects  a host computer to the Infiniium 90000  via a fiber optic cable. The DXH510 host adapter is capable of 20 Gbps bandwidth to meet any users’ performance needs, but it is with latency that it excels.   The low latency adapter provides application-to-application latency of less than 1 µs with guaranteed delivery for real-time applications.  It also improves application flexibility by supporting both copper and fiber optic cables with distances up to 300 meters.

For Infiniium 90000 applications, Dolphin provides a Berkeley Sockets compliant API called SuperSocketsTM. SuperSocketsTM delivers a fast and transparent way for any networked application to dramatically improve performance over Ethernet solutions.

"We are very pleased with the selection of Dolphin ExpressTM for the Infiniium 90000 X-Series Oscilloscope," said Hugo Kohmann COO of Dolphin Interconnect Solutions. "The combination of Dolphin and Agilent Technologies will provide customers with powerful tools as engineers work with higher data rates and emerging standards."
