Dolphin announces new DXS410 switch to Dolphin Express Product Family
Oslo, Norway & Marlborough, MA USA – June 25, 2008 – Dolphin Interconnect Solutions, a global provider of high performance, high availability interconnect solutions, today announced general availability of its DXS410 Dolphin Express Switch. The latest in a family of Dolphin Express products, the DXS410 switch is a ten port, low profile switch designed to maximize the performance of today’s database applications by delivering the industries lowest latency and addressing customer needs for scalability and high reliability.
The DXS410 architecture provides an ultra low latency switching environment for scaling cluster nodes or I/O expansion units within a database environment. This low latency environment enables customers to achieve industry leading response times for database applications. Dolphin has benchmarked application response time improvements of over 700% vs. Ethernet with the Dolphin Express solution, while providing industry leading price performance. In addition to response time improvements, customers will also benefit from increased transaction throughput to increase the overall capacity of their database applications.
The DXS410 is an ultra low latency switch with 10 high speed non-blocking ports. Each port is capable of 10 Gbps and configurable to support 20 Gbps connections to hosts or I/O subsystems. The 10 powered ports provide the flexibility of either a copper or fiber-optic interface, increasing the distance support to 300 meters. The low profile 1Ru form factor reduces the overall space requirement and cost of ownership.

The DXS410 is part of Dolphin DX product line within the Dolphin Express solution. The DX products include host adapters, I/O expansion systems, and Dolphin’s SuperSockets™ software libraries. A new SuperSockets software library is also being released to support the features of the DXS410 and other DX products. SuperSockets™ provides an application transparent interface between applications and Dolphin Express hardware, allowing applications to take advantage of Dolphin Express’ increased performance capabilities.
The DXS410 will list for $4,200.00 and will be available in July 2008.
